Finacea (sp?) worked well for me. I was able to use it when I was pregnant. (It's a topical lotion you put on after washing your face.) Retin-A is also good, but I couldn't use it when I was pregnant.

It really depends on your skin - if I just use clearasil once a week I seem to do OK but I've had some friends who have used to use medicine - my best friend swears by proactiv.

In my experience accutane is the best - the problem is that it requires a prescription. At first when I took it I broke out, but after about 2 weeks all of my acne was gone. I haven't taken it in 5 years and I haven't had acne since (I will get a pimple here and there, but nothing major).
The one warning I would give is that I was kind of depressed when I started taking it - I think that's a known side effect, just be aware.

Be sure to be under a doctor's care (although, since it's prescription, you will be). DO NOT get pregnant while using this, because it WILL cause severe birth defects!!!
